About Us

Silver Bay, Minnesota

Built like the North Shore.

Rocky Taconite is a solid wood furniture shop based in Silver Bay, Minnesota, on Lake Superior's North Shore. We offer built-to-order tree bookshelves, live edge coffee tables, consoles, record stands, desks, benches and decor, with free shipping across the contiguous United States.

About the name

Taconite is the hard iron-bearing rock that shaped Silver Bay and much of the North Shore. We borrowed the word because it says what we want our furniture to be: solid, honest and built to last.

We are an independent online shop, not connected to any local landmark or organization. Every piece we sell is solid wood, made after you order and checked for fit and finish before it ships.

What we build

Tree bookshelves, shelves & wine — tree bookshelves, branch and floating shelves, mantels and wine racks.
Coffee tables, side tables & desks — live edge and sculpted coffee tables, side tables, dining tables and desks.
Consoles, TV stands & record stands — console tables, TV stands, record player stands, sideboards and floating vanities.
Benches, coat racks & wall decor — benches, coat racks, wall lamps, lounge chairs and wood wall art.
